12 Rational Reasons Supporting Christianity
When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He replied “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (Matt. 22:37).” Knowing God is knowing truth. I believe loving God with all your heart means we have a desire for truth (an honest heart), as many are agenda driven instead of truth driven. I believe the meaning of soul means it also takes passion, as there are those who just don't care. Loving God with all our mind would require applying reason. Using our minds leads to rational thought, rational thought is why many highly intelligent, educated, and achieving individuals - from scientist to college professors, professionals such as doctors, lawyers and engineers, along with athletes and business leaders love and follow God. I am not going to put myself in the category of highly intelligent or educated (I do have a Bachelors of Business Administration degree), but will count myself as one of those who came to know God by using reason.
Below are twelve reasons why I and countless others believe in God. If you are curious to learn more about these reasons, just click on the text of each reason for more detail. Since many of us, including myself, have the attention span of a gnat, I've limited the information for each reason to a few paragraphs when volumes more has and could be written. If you have a desire to learn more, I have included links for books and other resources, including chapters of a manuscript I had written called Christianity 101 - Evidence, Applications, and Benefits of the Faith. You can click here to learn more about the manuscript. The twelve reasons are as follows (note- some linked pages are under construction, stay tuned!) -
In a court of law it is not unusual for a conviction based on purely circumstantial evidence. It would be difficult to convict using just one piece of circumstantial evidence, but when it starts adding up a jury has a much easier time coming up with a verdict. I am sure there are those who will come up with counter arguments to any of the reasons listed. I hope when you add it all up you do understand why intelligent, rational thinking people believe in God. No matter how much evidence is presented it still boils down to a matter of faith. What many do not realize is it also takes faith to not believe in God due to the evidence presented. If there is no God and you believe there is one, there is no harm and at the very least you are part of making our world better. If you do not believe in God and there is one, there could be grave eternal consequences. Reason would dictate investigating the existence of God would be in your best interest.
